Plato was the one of the greatest philosophers in the Ancient Greece. Following the ideas of his teacher Socrates, Plato developed an entire metaphysical and political system, rooted in the belief in noble virtue and human reason. Plato saw the divine in the origin of our world and attempted to construct a philosophical system that would reward and celebrate its very essence. He was the supporter of aristocracy and dared to continue the controversial legacy of Socrates, despite his teacher being sentenced to death for his opinions. There is an old saying that says basically all philosophy is a variant of or a reaction to Plato. Considering the vast influence he has had on Western philosophy and culture, and elsewhere in the world, it is certainly not an overstatement.
Contributor Temeneus presents one of the greatest philosophers the West has ever produced, elaborating on his metaphysical, political and ethical worldview, which describes how to achieve transcendence.
